Benefits of FBR & OFA Numbers

A valid Farm Business Registration number (FBR number) will give you access to a number of benefits.


With a valid FBR number producers can:

Pay 25 percent property tax on agricultural land versus 100 percent of rural property value as determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

Obtain OFA, CFFO or NFU-O Membership

Obtain membership with either the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO), or National Farmer's Union-Ontario (NFU-O).

An OFA number provides many benefits. Check out the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) website to keep yourself updated on what benefits may be available to you.

New Farms

If you are new to farming and have not yet grossed $7,000 in farm income from the previous year, you need to contact OMAFRA’s farm property tax office for a gross farm income exemption called a startup exemption.

Qualifying Farms

If you have grossed $7,000 in farm income, contact Agricorp to register as a farm business then contact OMAFRA’s farm property tax office.
